Our Work

Core Values

1. Respect for Young People’s Knowledge

Young people’s opinions and contributions based on their experiences must be respected. CAP will not participate in activities where young people’s participation is token or where there is no communication and honesty about the reasons for this participation.

2. Non-Violence

No current participation in armed groups, carrying of weapons or voluntary participation in violent demonstrations.

3. Equality

We respect gender differences, recognizing that males and females have distinct experiences in war.

4. Respect for Human Rights

Freedom of movement, expression and assembly.
The right to self-dignity and non-discrimination where both individual and collective rights must be respected.

5. Respect for Diversity and Unity

We must recognize that we are both individuals and members of groups. Our group identities reflect different histories and status within the world.

6. Importance of Reconciliation and Forgiveness

The form this takes will vary with the nature of the conflict and the cultural background of the country/countries.

7. Volunteerism

All CAP members are expected to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month.

8. Political Neutrality

No active involvement in a political party.

9. Enjoyment of Life

We need to learn how to express ourselves and to enjoy the life that we have. It is not necessary to be serious all the time, only thinking of bad things. People need to develop another side of them, to enjoy their life and to think creatively.

10. Justice and Transparency

Our actions should reflect our beliefs and our commitment to the principles and objectives of CAP.
