Financial Management
Children/Youth as Peacebuilders finances are project rather than program oriented , allowing the organization to have the flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities. CAP relies on a high level of volunteer contributions, particularly from youth organizations. This allows it to have a high level of activity and local ownership over all its projects.
CAP maintains separate financial accounts for each of its projects. Each project includes formal
contracts and a Memorandum of Understanding which outlinesf expectations in the partnership
between CAP in Canada and its overseas partner. Regular financial reports are provided by overseas
partners for all projects, with receipts for all expenditures. In addition, the nature of CAP’s work,
with its close collaboration between CAP Canada and its international partners means that there are
regular field visits which include a review of all finances.
CAP’s daily finances are managed by a chartered accountant. CAP is audited every year by Welch LLP (based in Ottawa).
